Daniel was a Competitive Gymnast in the San Diego area and has been involved in Gymnastics for over 25 years. He started coaching in 1999. Daniel is a USAG Certified Junior Olympic Coach and Judges with the National Gymnastics Judges Association (NGJA). Gyminny Kids became his home in 2005 and has become the gold standard for gymnastics in San Diego, from the highly qualified staff to the immaculately clean climate-controlled facility. Gyminny cares about raising a well-rounded child, so the focus is on building character through sport. “Gymnastics and this company shaped me as an adult, so I would like to give back the same way that I learned.” Daniel loves business and finance, scooters, working out, dressing up in themed costumes, running a small business with my wife (D&M Leotards), and spending time with his super-charged children. “My kids never tire and keep my wife and me on our toes. Luckily we have Gyminny Kids to set them free!” 


Scott Zimmerman

Scott has a BA in Psychobiology. He has twenty-plus years of coaching experience and four years of Acro Power Tumbling.  “I enjoy coaching kids in an atmosphere that develops children through positive reinforcement. Most of all, I love Gyminny because of the people I work with. We really do have an all-star cast!” Scott’s passion project is coaching the Rancho Bernardo High School gymnastics team as a way to give back to the community. In Scott’s free time, he enjoys music, hiking, snowboarding, reading, and spending time with his wife and puppy. Scott is a famed local DJ and DJs events all over town. Scott wears many hats at Gyminny Kids, so you may catch him on the fly at the front desk, coaching, or teaching Zoom classes. Scott is a whirlwind of energy and creativity!

Meet Ms. Krishele. Krishele has a degree in fashion and product development from the Fashion Institute. She was a competitive gymnastics for eight years and competed up to level eight. Krishele is the Program Director at Gyminny Kids and oversees every program we offer. That’s a lot of responsibility! Krishele loves food, and her Grandma “Bevmo.” Krishele is a wife and mother of two cuties. “When I am not at the gym, I am eating and snuggling my baby boy, Bryson. “I  love seeing a child’s face light up when they get a new skill. I also get to do what I love every day. Oh! And I accept bribes in the form of homemade goodies.”

Ronna has fifteen years of ballet, three years of pointe, tap, and jazz experience. “Turn it up and catch me doing the jitterbug in between phone calls.” Ronna loves being around young people. She feeds off their energy and enjoys the fast-paced nature of working at the front desk. Ronna is a customer service connoisseur. Friendly, bubbly upbeat at all times. After your conversation with her on the phone, you may be pals for life. Ronna is the Gyminny song bird. She loves singing with a capital S! “Singing and painting bring me alive and gives me that kick of extra pizazz.”  In Ronna’s free time, you can find her at karaoke, dancing, drawing portraits, spending time with family, and gardening in her famous homegrown garden. “My plants and flowers are my babies.” Then I cook them, ha! The students that walk through the doors of Gyminny Kids are like Ronna’s own. Speaking of, Ronna is married and has two wonderful children, Indiana and Chancellor. She has a heart for teaching the next generation and sprinkles her positivity everywhere she goes. When she smiles, the room lights up! Ronna has been with Gyminny since 2015 and looks forward to many more.


Alexis D’Souza

Alexis earned a B.A in Child and Adolescent Development with a Minor in Special Education from San Francisco State University. She has experience as an Intern at the Early Childhood Education Center at SFSU and worked as a preschool teacher in San Francisco for a year before moving back to her hometown, San Diego. Alexis is a former Gyminny Kid and a high-level Gymnast. She is currently our gymnastics preschool-age Director. She oversees our dynamic rotating lesson plan, which has been called “The best gymnastics preschool program in the Nation” by the FIG President. In her free time, Alexis likes to draw and loves pasta and dark chocolate!

Coach Andy has over twenty years of competitive coaching experience. He has ten plus years of one-meter and three-meter springboard diving. Andy was also a competitive swimmer for twenty years. Talk about wrinkly fingers! “Passing on the love of sports and watching children grow as athletes and people is a tremendous reward unique to coaching.” Andy is a master carpenter and can create most anything out of wood. In his free time, Andy enjoys playing music, swimming, and traveling. “There’s also a soft spot in my heart for KFC’s crispy chicken!” 


Carrie Pohlman

Carrie Pohlman was a successful competitive gymnast. Carrie competed for 11 years, through level ten. She started coaching when she was in High School and has been coaching ever since. For the last fourteen years, Carrie coached at Elite gymnastics of San Diego.  Carrie was the competitive team coordinator and coached all recreational and team levels though her specialties were floor exercise and balance beam. Carrie has an Associate Degree in criminal justice and has a passion for learning and personal growth. “Most of all, I love coaching and seeing children reach their goals through hard work and determination!”


Carter Clatterbuck

Carter was a competitive gymnast for seven years. Four years on the Mount Carmel High School Varsity Team. She has a BS in Nutrition from TCU and is continuing her education in pursuit of becoming a medical doctor. “I grew up loving gymnastics and want to be part of helping other kids learn to love the sport.” Carter enjoys running marathons, reading, and cooking! I have been asked how to prepare for a marathon. You just register, which gives a sense of urgency to begin training. You have to commit.” Carter helps out as a coach with the mobile program and camps. She is willing to help out where ever needed, and she’s good at all of it!

Earl has five years of coaching experience. He is going to school for Business Administration and loves to learn. “I have a passion for working with kids and youth sports.” Earl enjoys streaming video games, working out, and spending time with his wife. We have not documented a time when Earl is not smiling as he may just be the most positive person on the planet. Earl is a dynamite teacher and camp coach. He loves working out and eating his wife’s delicious cooking. Earl is a superstar here at Gyminny. Come quick. He’s taking autograph requests.

Esmae has been working with children for over a decade. “I love seeing children learn to move and be active. It’s so fun to see them gain confidence and make friends in their classes!” Esmae is our Camp Director and Lead Office Associate. She has a way with the customers, and much of that has to do with her professionalism. Esmae is an anointed communicator! It’s hard to catch Esmae without a smile, and she keeps a fast-pace while multitasking galore. We’ve seen her on two phone calls, texting and live chatting clients all at the same time. Holy smokes! “I love gyminny Kids and all it has to offer.” Esmae enjoys going to the beach in her free time and hanging out with her puppy and husband. She’s also a fanatic for learning and finding ways to better herself through ongoing self-education. “It’s important to me that I do my best in everything I do.”

Gary is a twenty-seven-year coach of North County Gymnastics and the Gyminny Kids. Gary has a background in Engineering and was a previous Machinist. During that time, Gary perfected the bungee bouncer system that has brought joy to thousands of children. Gary is a member of the illustrious Seven Oaks community located in Rancho Bernardo. During his free time, he eats pizza, participates in water aerobics, works on home improvements and watches Say Yes to the Dress. “Even though I have been coaching over thirty years, every day working with kids, feels like my first day on the job. I just love this sport and all it has to offer”.


Greg Lane

Coach Greg has been coaching for over five decades! He was a competitive gymnast for 13 years and competed as a level ten. When Greg was at his prime, he competed on a basketball floor with the corners marked with masking tape at the State Meet. Mr. Greg competed a double full and double back salto over a hardwood floor. Crazy right!? Greg spent twenty-eight of his coaching years teaching at the highest level. He has produced many state, regional and national champions over the years. He found his home at Gyminny Kids in 2007, where he uses his experience to develop children of all ages and abilities. We are fortunate to have a coach of his caliber. He got married at fifty-two years old and spends his free time kite-boarding and working on home projects.


Helen Wonjila

Helen earned a scholarship to China Wuqiao International Acrobatic and Art School, which took her from her hometown in Africa to China to learn how to be a world-class Circus Performer. Helen was one of only a few children to be selected for this high honor. In addition to circus, Helen had her start in Gymnastics. She spent seven years in gymnastics which was one of her most fond childhood memories. Helen has traveled the world, performing in stadiums, cruise ships, and professional sports halftime shows. Helen can juggle coffee tables with her feet. Yes, you read that right.

Helen can hula hoop dozens of hoops at the same time upsidedown and in a handstand. Her talents don’t stop there. She is a full-time mom to her beautiful daughter, and she finds time to teach here at Gyminny. “I love working with children and applying the skills I’ve learned to help them grow as people and athletes.” She dances with her baby in her free time, practices acrobatics, silks, juggles, hula hoops, and loves hiking and movies. “I have been known to eat burritos every day. I can’t get enough of San Diego’s Mexican food, especially the California burrito. It’s dangerous!”

Coach Jaime was a competitive gymnast and dancer in High School. She has eleven years of coaching experience and is a USAG Judge and NAWGJ member. “I love working with children and appreciate the beauty of gymnastics and dance. Dance compliments gymnastics and vice versa, so I get to apply all my favorite things. I also love the positive atmosphere here at Gyminny Kids.” Jaime likes to cook, hike, camp, color, play with my RC rock crawler, disc golfing, and dancing in her free time. “I teach dance and gymnastics for a living, and I also do it for fun when no one is looking.” Jaime is a high-level coach who is a stickler for the details and spends extra time on the basics. “Build a strong foundation, and the rest will follow.” We are lucky to have a coach of Jaimie’s caliber at North County Gymnastics. Her professionalism raises the boat for everyone involved. If you don’t know her, get to know her, she’s a real shot of life!


Jessica Hook

Coach Jessica has been coaching gymnastics since 2011. She has fifteen years of dance experience and has performed in several ballets and dance companies. “I believe that coaches can make a huge difference in a child’s life. We could be the best part of the day for some kids. I know my coaches were that for me.” Jessica’s hobbies include anime, San Jose Sharks hockey, roller skating, ramen, drawing, music, hanging out with her husband and dog Indiana. Jessica is a kind, patient teacher with a talent for connecting with all her students. Jessica is a highly requested coach who goes the extra mile to know how her students learn best.

Josh comes to Gyminny Kids with over twenty-five years of coaching experience. Josh is a former NAWGJ Judge and aided in creating floor choreography for high-level gymnastics. Josh is a friendly, fun coach who relates to students of all ages. He studied the sciences. Two hundred hours in Anatomy, Physiology, and Neurology, One hundred and fifty hours in Myology, and one hundred hours in Pathology. Talk about brains! Josh was voted funniest by his class in school, and he has a gift for artwork. His talents don’t end there, so if you want to learn more, bring your questions to class. He is a riot!


Kalena Tano

Kelana started gymnastics at Gyminny kids when she was just two years old and competed through level six before competing for Rancho Bernardo High School and winning CIF on the Floor Exercise in 2014. Concurrently, she was a ballet dancer in high school and danced professionally at City Ballet of San Diego for two years before returning to UCSD to study Public Law. “Working at Gyminny is full circle for me since I started my time as a gymnast here. I love working with kids, whether it be teaching dance or coaching gymnastics. Gymnastics taught me how to set goals and work hard to achieve them, so I’m here to do the same for the next generation.” Kalena loves to surf, read, and travel. She has a pet gecko named Banana that she named when she was hungry. Kalena co-hosts and edits a podcast about ballet called “On the Other Foot” with her friend. Kalena is a rising star at GK. Overachiever doesn’t give credence to her hard work and dedication to everything she puts her mind to. Kalena is a dynamic teacher, and we are happy to have her on our team. She’s just a rockstar!

Kendra Mills is a Gyminny Kids Coach, heads our Gym Plus program, and teaches our Village Learning program. Kendra received her Associates in Early Childhood Education from the College of Rhode Island-Warwick. She is currently pursuing her Bachelors in Early Childhood Education at the University of San Diego. Kendra has experience as a daycare teacher and preschool teacher and has experience teaching third grade. Kendra is high energy and has a passion for teaching students of all ages. Kendra has five years of competitive cheer experience and has the energy to prove it! “I love working with children and assisting in their development.” Kendra likes hiking, reading, drawing, watching movies, and playing with her puppy, Oliver. 


Kim Mullenix

Kimberly brings passion and excitement into our Village Learning program. She earned her Master’s in Education from DePaul University, focusing her studies on value-creating education for global citizenship. Kimberly also obtained her B.A. in Liberal Arts, concentrating in International Studies and Peace and Conflict Resolution. She has nearly a decade’s worth of experience in the education and non-profit sectors. She has worked in preschool and K-12 settings, both locally and internationally. Kimberly’s background includes training teachers and teaching students at an orphanage in rural Nepal, developing a social-emotional learning curriculum for an international school based in Costa Mesa, immersing herself in the Special Education world at Liberty Station’s High Tech High to leading the gymnastics camps at the YMCA. Kimberly brings a unique and wide-ranging perspective on learning and education. Above all, she loves working with children and is committed to creating inclusive and empowering spaces that truly bring out the joy and treasure within each child. Kimberly grew up around the world. She was a competitive gymnast herself and eventually transitioned to coaching recreational and pre-team levels part-time to share her love for the sport.

Coach Lauren is a former Gyminny Kid and gymnastics enthusiast. Lauren has six years of gymnastics experience, including High School Gymnastics. Lauren Graduated from Miramar College after studying Social Behavioral Sciences. She is a USAG Member, First Aid CPR certified, and is training to be a competitive team coach. Her coaching talents don’t end there, Lauren plays a large role in Gyminny’s world-famous circus and aerial program, can ride a unicycle like a pro, and used to ride horses. “I took classes here, and I’ve always loved gymnastics and the Gyminny Kids atmosphere. It’s the place to be!” Lauren is a movie expert and loves making crafts!


Laryssa Johnson

Laryssa has twelve years of cheer and six years of gymnastics experience. She is currently studying to be a nurse, which goes along with her desire to do great things for kids both in the gym and hospital. “This job gives me real-life experience working with children, and I savor every moment. There’s something electric about working in a facility that is always buzzing with activity. Gyminny Kids is POPPIN” Laryssa is a top-rated coach and mainstay at the front desk. She’s organized, efficient and friendly. What else could you ask for? If you give Laryssa twenty tasks, she’ll do twenty-one, and she’ll do it with a smile and a pep in her step. “Bring it on; I can’t wait to start my next shift!”


Lysander “Stitch” Luansing Jr.

Lysander, also Known as “Stitch,” has a BS in Kinesiology with an emphasis on PE. He has eleven years of parkour and martial arts experience, along with four years of gymnastics experience. “I work here because I love kids and enjoy helping them learn to flip out safely.” Stitch enjoys spending time with friends and family. He has a sweet car collection. Stitch is high energy and runs off pure methanol. “The cars are my children; they are too fast, too furious!” His favorite movie is Lilo and Stitch, as you could have guessed. He enjoys food, especially burritos with hot Cheetos in them. “It’s suped-up cars and heartburn medication for me. NAS!” Send your child to Gyminny, and I will turn them into a Ninja in no time. Our Ninja program is based on parkour, cinema skills, tumbling, and martial arts. Wax on, wax off!”


Macy Augustus

Macy has seventeen years of cheerleading and five years of coaching experience. She is currently studying Childhood Development which compliments what she does here at Gyminny Kids. She chose gyminny Kids because of the positive environment, bubbly children, and the energy she gains from being around so much excitement. “I love to go hiking, reading, and tumbling. I don’t tumble while I read, but I would if I could. Since I was young, I had the energy to burn, so coaching on my feet seems natural. I love steak. It’s my favorite food by far. If I had to choose a close second, it would be steak.” Macy is a top-rated coach and finds a way to individualize so each of her students is challenged and supported. Mocte Villalobos

Moctezuma has more than twenty-five years of coaching experience and fifteen years of competitive team experience. Mocte, short for Moctezuma, was a  PE Teacher for five years. Mocte has a passion for fitness, mental health, and overall wellness. “When I feel healthy, I look healthy, and I want to share that with my students. It’s time we take care of our bodies so we can live long, fruitful lives.” Gymnastics happens to be the sport Mocte feels is the “greatest sport in the world.” Mocte feels gymnastics has it all, grace, beauty, showmanship, and unrivaled strength and flexibility. In his free time, Mocte lifts weights, runs, reads, window shops, rides his bike with his dog in a baby pack, and takes one exotic vacation every year with his wife. Mocte has two closets to fit all his clothes. He has so many shoes; he never repeats a day of the month. He has been all over the world and appreciates beauty and culture. His skin has a nice glow, and he’s often referred to as the “Most interesting man in the world.” When he’s not at the gym, he is sunbathing by the pool or eating healthy. Low carbs, lots of protein. He brings vegetable juice to work, and he has the energy to show for his healthy diet. We think he should grace the cover of Men’s Health Magazine. We’ll see. In the meantime, drop into his class. He’s one of the best teachers north or south of the border!


Nathan Darrow

Coach Nathan has eighteen years of gymnastics experience, six years of cheerleading, and two years of coaching High School cheer. Nathan is a world champion cheerleader and tumbler. His expertise doesn’t stop there. He is the Head Coach of NCG’s large and successful Xcel team. “I’m ready to have fun when I come to work and teach kids a sport I have knowledge and passion for.” In Nathan’s free time, he likes to hike, workout, train for Coaches Cup, and hang with friends. “I’m not a morning person but all that changes when once I get started on my morning dose of coffee. I love coffee oh so very much!” Nathan is a coach who demands the best from his students and challenges them to reach their personal best. He does an excellent job of being a mix of firm, fair and kind. Nathan comes to work early or stays late to train in the gym or lesson plan. He goes above and beyond every time!


Olin Eaves

Olin has thirteen years of competitive coaching and five years of cheerleading experience. He is a Nationally certified men’s judge and won a compulsory judging contest. He is a Men’s Junior Olympic Nationals Coach and took an athlete to Nationals. What an honor! Olin is thrilled to be at a gym where great gymnastics is created in a fun, dynamic environment. Olin loves reading, watching movies, playing iPad games. “Zelda is the bomb dot com, and I want everyone to know.” Olin heads our optional boys’ program levels 7-10 and JD. He knows the rules like the back of his hand and spends much of his free time constructing high-level routines to optimize start value and minimize his gymnasts’ deductions. Olin has a Masters degree and is a brilliant fellow. He is a self-proclaimed “gym nerd” and follows college gymnastics. “I am a fan of all things gymnastics!” Olin teaches preschool classes through our highest levels, so chances are, you will see him around!


Peggy Baxter

Peggy is a rockstar at the front desk. She is an inviting face as you enter the building. Peggy doesn’t have a favorite color as it changes with her mood. Like a chameleon! Her favorite food is Pasta which pairs well with a flavorful wine. Her favorite movies are “Lately,”  and I could watch “Burlesque” over and over again. As a former dancer, I love the choreography and music; it speaks to my heart. Peggy is a Private Pilot & Sommelier. Catch me if you can. Bet you can’t! “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” C.S. Lewis “I am living the dream in sunny San Diego with my husband, and the work at Gyminny gives me fulfillment in knowing I get to help kids reach their goals.” Peggy has such a great sense of humor. After one convo, and you’ll find yourself laughing two days later. In Peggy’s free time, she enjoys flipping furniture. “I love finding a good deal, then fixing it up and selling. Rodney Van Reenen

Rodney spent over thirty years as a world-famous acrobatic. He performed with Ringling Bros Circus, traveled the world, and was featured on several national TV shows. Rodney created new skills on the trapeze, including catching his partner with only his feet dozens of feet off the ground. Rodney has performed for public figures like Nelson Mandela and Rosa Parks.  He is from South Africa and, in his words, “Used his talents as an acrobat and gymnast to find a better life.” He was still a child when he found his first paid traveling circus gig. His Mom was hesitant but finally gave in when she realized Rodney’s larger-than-life talents. “Combining my passion for performance and acrobatics with children is a dream come true. I love watching them get excited about learning new skills.”  Rodney has devoted his life to sharing his craft with kids as he finds that more rewarding than anything else. He has a heart for giving. Rodney enjoys spending time with his family and creating unique aerial acts with music. “I love nature and finding my center. I meditate near bodies of water and give thanks for all that I have. To be alive is a gift, one I cherish.” Rodney teaches gymnastics and circus classes to all ages at Gyminny Kids. He is in high demand!


Sandi Holstein

Sandi has over ten years of gymnastics and dance experience. Sandi is a gymnastics enthusiast and considers teaching one of her favorite things.”I love coming to work and making a difference in my student’s lives, one class at a time!” Sandy loves rainy days, reading, and the color grey. Sandi is one of the highly esteemed Xcel coaches and teaches the Silver and Gold groups. Sandi also has a gift for helping athletes work past mental blocks and trouble skills.
