Daniel Gundert

Daniel Gundert, married with five children, is the Owner and CEO of Gyminny Kids Gymnastics in 4S Ranch. A juggernaut children’s activity center with over three thousand weekly students has been serving the community since 1987. Daniel is a Nationally rated gymnastics judge and the founder of D&M Leotards, a children’s activewear company. Daniel’s focus is providing fun and fitness for all ages while building character through sport. Daniel acquired his real estate license to broker and acquire the properties Gyminny Kids operates on and help his friends, clients, and family achieve their real estate goals. Daniel met his wife, Melanie, twenty-five years ago while they did gymnastics together as children at the same club in San Diego. All five of their super-charged children are competitive gymnasts, which has become a family affair. Start with gymnastics; go anywhere!


Scott Zimmerman

Director of Operations

Scott has a BA in Psychobiology. He has twenty-plus years of coaching experience and four years of Acro Power Tumbling.  “I enjoy coaching kids in an atmosphere that develops children through positive reinforcement. Most of all, I love Gyminny because of the people I work with. We really do have an all-star cast!” Scott’s passion project is coaching the Rancho Bernardo High School gymnastics team as a way to give back to the community. In Scott’s free time, he enjoys music, hiking, snowboarding, reading, and spending time with his wife and puppy. Scott is a famed local DJ and DJs events all over town. Scott wears many hats at Gyminny Kids, so you may catch him on the fly at the front desk, coaching, or teaching Zoom classes. Scott is a whirlwind of energy and creativity!


Krishele Trueblood

Meet Ms. Krishele. Krishele has a degree in fashion and product development from the Fashion Institute. She was a competitive gymnastics for eight years and competed up to level eight. Krishele is the Manager at Gyminny Kids and oversees every program we offer. That’s a lot of responsibility! Krishele loves food, and her Grandma “Bevmo.” Krishele is a wife and mother of two cuties. “When I am not at the gym, I am eating or snuggling my baby boy, Bryson. “I love seeing a child’s face light up when they get a new skill. I also get to do what I love every day. Oh! And I accept bribes in the form of homemade goodies.”


Ashley Provost

Ashley started gymnastics when she was two and moved from Canada to the US when she was ten. She began teaching at 14 years old. Ashley is a Human Resource major from SDSU and loves to continue learning as an adult. She is one of our high-level team coaches at the Poway location and cares about the details. Ashley focuses on correct form, technique, and body shaping. She hangs out with her husband and three children in her free time, spends time in nature, and listens to rap. YEAH!


Charlie McDowell-Horn

Charlie joins us with years of experience in customer service, group lessons, dance, and karate. In addition, he spent time working at Lego Land, where he fostered his creative spirit, which lends well to teaching children and creating exciting lesson plans. Charlie is a front desk expert and Coach at Gyminny Kids. He comes from a large family with six siblings, so he fits right in with the family feel Gyminny Kids provides. His middle name may as well be “Creative Genius,” as he has a way with kids. Charlie enjoys film work, Goju Karate, junior lifeguarding, cheer, yoga, and dance in his free time. There’s more. He earned his BA in Mass Media at the California State University of San Marcos while on the Dean’s list. Charlie also has an AA in Arts and Humanities. Catch him at the beach during his off time, where he soaks in Southern California’s beauty.

Earl loves playing video games, cooking steak, lifting weights, and hanging out with his wife and puppies. Earl has been coaching gymnastics for over six years. His background is strength and conditioning, which eventually translated to gymnastics. He has an AA in Theology, Applied Business Management, and Kinesiology. Earl has led the kid’s department at church, overseeing operations and curriculum development. Earl has a permanent smile; he loves working with children and believes in the massive benefits of gymnastics. Earl is a walking celebrity at Gyminny Kids. Autograph time!


Chelsey White

Chelsey is a full-fledged gymnast and ballerina. She grew up in San Diego, playing sports and cooking with her twin sister. She has experience working in the mental health field for ten years and has a knack for helping those with special needs. Chelsey is a foodie and can’t get enough Indian, Greek, Thai, and Vietnamese food. She is a full-on gamer nerd and has been so since Sega and Dreamcast. Chelsey used to be a Gyminny Kid and is excited to pass along the confidence, sportsmanship, and life lessons she learned during her time here.


Frankie Ficalora

Frankie is a gymnast who also teaches in her free time. She’s a student who enjoys going shopping and watching Gilmore Girls. Frankie loves, with a capital L, art and science. Her grandmother is what she calls “the most significant influence in her life.” Frankie is an upbeat, positive teacher who enjoys working with kids who say funny things, which is most if not all of them!


Hannah Hickox

Hannah is our Xcel Team Director at Gyminny Kids Poway. She loves all things fitness and healthy living. She is known to go on one hundred-mile hikes (yes, you read that correctly) and enjoys nature which she calls her “reset.” Hannah is a passionate teacher that believes in what sport does for children. She loves making a positive impact that lasts a lifetime. You can find Hannah outside the gym fire dancing, roller skating, skateboarding, and hanging with her son, Desmond.


Hunter Pietila

Hunter is an all-around athlete. He’s an avid golfer and spends most every day on the course. “I love being outside, and the focus needed to golf translates to all aspects of my life.” He is an excellent teacher and remains engaged throughout the class. He is an incredible motivator and knows how to individualize within a broad range of abilities.

Coach Jaime was a competitive gymnast and dancer in High School. She has eleven years of coaching experience and is a USAG Judge and NAWGJ member. “I love working with children and appreciate the beauty of gymnastics and dance. Dance compliments gymnastics and vice versa, so I get to apply all my favorite things. I also love the positive atmosphere here at Gyminny Kids.” Jaime likes to cook, hike, camp, color, play with my RC rock crawler, disc golfing, and dancing in her free time. “I teach dance and gymnastics for a living, and I also do it for fun when no one is looking.” Jaime is a high-level coach who is a stickler for the details and spends extra time on the basics. “Build a strong foundation, and the rest will follow.” We are lucky to have a coach of Jaimie’s caliber at North County Gymnastics. Her professionalism raises the boat for everyone involved. If you don’t know her, get to know her, she’s a real shot of life!


Josh Hodgson

Josh comes to Gyminny Kids with over twenty-five years of coaching experience. Josh is a former NAWGJ Judge and aided in creating floor choreography for high-level gymnastics. Josh is a friendly, fun coach who relates to students of all ages. He studied the sciences: two hundred hours in Anatomy, Physiology, and Neurology, one hundred and fifty hours in Myology, and one hundred hours in Pathology. Talk about brains! Josh was voted funniest by his class in school, and he has a gift for artwork. His talents don’t end there, so if you want to learn more, bring your questions to class. He is a riot!

Kate loves hanging out with friends and cooking. Kate is a former competitive gymnast and is passionate about traveling, pasta, and curry. One thing you may not know about Kate is that she is a twin, which provides a built-in best friend. Kate is an energetic teacher who loves seeing her students achieve new “heights.”


Katie Reyno

Katie has been dancing through life since she was three years old. She competed for five years and enjoys tap, jazz, contemporary, ballet, and lyrical. Her dance has supplemented her gymnastics career, which lends to strong floor exercise and balance beam skills. Katie enjoys snowboarding, playing the piano, swimming at the beach, and listening to music in her free time!


Kaya Nepomuceno

Kaya was born and raised in San Diego. She participated in gymnastics for ten years and competed for eight years through level eight. Kaya is passionate about teaching the next generation. Outside the gym, Kaya enjoys hiking, gardening, arts and crafts, snowboarding, the beach, and spending time with family and friends. Her name is spelled like Kayak without that last K which is different from the usual spelling! Kaya is a fun, energetic teacher with a way to make the kids laugh.


Lauren Baker

Lauren is a beach goer that enjoys hiking and spending time with friends. Her friends give her a hard time for continuously changing her hair color. Lauren loves fitness and weight training and appreciates the value it brings to her coaching abilities. She a fanatic for spicy food and orders the spice level at a ten out of ten. SPICY! She’s been involved in gymnastics for over five years and looks forward to every minute she gets to be a part of her student growth.


Maddie Grove

Maddie is a superstar coach and distinguished surfer. Surf the wave BRO! She loves theatre and the production that goes with it. She has been called a “techy” by her co-stars because she is a theatre technology wizard. In her free time, she plays with her energized pup, Luna. Her first love is California burritos and naps. First the burrito, then a long nap. Maddie is a gymnast turned coach, and she lives for her students!


Norah is a gymnast who appreciates the consistency the sport has brought to her life, and she would like to pass that on to the next generation. She enjoys spending time with her friends at the beach, reading science fiction, and watching criminal minds. She is a talented teacher with a passion for gymnastics. Come in, get to know her!


Scarlett Heikkila

Scarlett was a Gyminny Kid and has participated in the sport for twelve years. She enjoys teaching the littles as she loves their larger-than-life personalities. Scarlett loves reading, going to the beach, and playing multiple sports. She grew up in Poway and has a connection with the community that she will cherish forever. Scarlett is a highly requested coach, so hurry up and register, her classes fill up!

Shadd is a gymnast of eight years and also enjoys parkour and tumbling. Shadd is a connoisseur of escape rooms and enjoys adventure. He currently teaches all levels at our Poway location and has taken on a leading role as a girls’ team coach. Shadd’s excellent attitude and upbeat personality make him a highly requested teacher. Come on in, get to know Shadd; he’s a firecracker!


Stephanie McCollum

Stephanie is high-energy, outgoing, positive, and exceptionally motivated. She has a background in management and is the Senior Office Lead at Gyminny Kids Poway. She is married and has two boys. Stephanie sang competitively for over a decade across Southern California and Nevada. She believes in leaving people, places, and things better than when she found them and that everything we do has a ripple effect, “so do it kindly!” She volunteers in her community via behavioral health programs for people struggling with mental health issues and addictions. “I firmly believe giving back is what life is about, and nothing heals the soul faster than helping others. ”I’ve found working for Gyminny Kids hard to call a job some days as I love children so much!”


Stephen Alison

Stephen is a spitfire! Truckloads of energy and positivity. He helps at the front desk, with camps, and teaches class. A Jack of all trades. He has a background in mentoring youth, physical fitness, and wellness. Stephen is an experienced trainer and spent two years leading youth fitness classes, adult CrossFit classes, and personal mentorship for client health goals. Stephen gets into theme and loves to dress up to match the lesson plan. Stephen is a highly requested teacher and is a friendly face at the front desk.


Vito Salmeri

Vito grew up in the gym and was a gymnast at Poway Gymnastics. He’s played many sports, including baseball and soccer. Vito is in the Marine Corps, takes pride in his country, and believes in the value of service and giving back. He can be a fun yet structured coach who brings out the best in his athletes. We are grateful for Vito and his jubilant demeanor!


Stephanie Macias- Carey

Stephanie is a long-time coach who has been doing gymnastics since High School. She speaks Spanish, writes music, and sings like an angel. She learned how to teach under the mentorship of her gymnastics coach, which brought it full circle. Teaching is a job Stephanie looks forward to every day as it makes her heart happy. Next time you see her, ask Stephanie to sing for you. She will bring you to tears. What a talent!


Alex Templeton

Alex is a Track and Field star! He enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and going to the beach. Alex grew up in North County, San Diego, graduated from Poway High School, and was an avid athlete, including soccer, football, and competed in track & field at Grossmont College. Alex received a scholarship to a DII school at Lincoln University in Missouri, where he met his wife. Alex Majored in Wellness and got his Masters in Christian Studies. Alex has coached the jumpers at Lincoln University, coached 17X All American, 3 National Champions, and was a part of 2X NCAA Women’s National Championship teams. Alex loves athletics and uses his experience to coach athletes of all ages and abilities at Gyminny Kids.
