We started Village Learning as a service to the community – we keep pricing as low as possible to make it affordable for families. I have five children and I understand the cost of putting them in school and daycare. We do not sacrifice quality as we employ the best-credentialed teachers, maintain the cleanest facility, and follow a comprehensive curriculum. We prepare students for school, the playground, and life.

– Daniel Gundert, Owner of Gyminny Kids

Village Learning Curriculum

Gyminny’s Village Learning Program has developed a rigorous curriculum that integrates gymnastics and readies our youngest ones for Kindergarten and beyond. During our “classroom” times, we have adopted a Montessori-inspired learning approach, providing freedom and flexibility for each child to learn and develop at their own pace. Children will learn how to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide through creative learning tools and guidance from their teachers. They will work on their reading, spelling, and handwriting. They will also learn about science through sensory play and experiential, STEAM-based activities. The social sciences will be lightly taught through Socratic Seminars and themes and lessons based on current events and what our children see in their environment. Aside from the academic piece, we align our social-emotional learning curriculum with values grounded in diversity, inclusion, and honoring each child’s unique treasure. We also implement our local Poway School District’s Character Counts! ‘Six Pillars of Character’ framework. These pillars include caring, fairness, respect, citizenship, responsibility, and trustworthiness.

Gymnastics is beneficial for gross motor skills, spatial awareness and socialization for young children. By being upside down, children learn where their body is in space, which helps with body control. Having a good sense of spatial awareness, not only helps the child move around, but it also builds their confidence to try new skills. Gymnastics also improves balance, flexibility, strength, and overall coordination. Walking on balance beams improves balance, flipping over bars improves grip strength, and bouncing on the trampoline improves core strength.

In our gymnastics classes, we learn safety and discipline by following along in line and watching the teachers to learn how to do each skill correctly. It is a great way for children to exert their energy and get their wiggles out, while also learning new skills.

Amber Ference – Village Learning Teacher

Amber graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Alabama. She was born in San Diego but grew up in Ventura county. Her mother has been a preschool director most of Amber’s life, so she learned much about child development from watching her mom. Amber started working as an assistant preschool teacher by the age of twelve. When Amber graduated high school, she worked full-time while taking classes at a community college. Before Gyminny Kids, Amber worked as a sports coach at an elementary school where she taught several sports at various levels. Given Amber’s extensive work with children and athletics, we are thrilled to have her join our rockstar coaching team!
