Daniel Gundert

Daniel Gundert, married with six children, is the Owner and CEO of Gyminny Kids Gymnastics. A juggernaut children’s activity center with several locations and over six thousand weekly students has been serving the community since 1987. Daniel is a Nationally rated gymnastics judge and the founder of D&M Leotards, a children’s activewear company. Daniel’s focus is providing fun and fitness for all ages while building character through sport. Daniel acquired his real estate license to broker and acquire the properties Gyminny Kids operates on and help his friends, clients, and family achieve their real estate goals. Daniel donates half of his real estate commission to child-related non-profits. Daniel met his wife, Melanie, almost thirty years ago while they did gymnastics together as children at the same club in San Diego. All five of their super-charged children are competitive gymnasts, which has become a family affair. Start with gymnastics; go anywhere!

Laryssa Johnson

Laryssa has twelve years of cheer and six years of gymnastics experience. She is currently studying to be a nurse, which goes along with her desire to do great things for kids both in the gym and hospital. “This job gives me real-life experience working with children, and I savor every moment. There’s something electric about working in a facility that is always buzzing with activity. Gyminny Kids is POPPIN” Laryssa is a top-rated coach and mainstay at the front desk. She’s organized, efficient and friendly. What else could you ask for? If you give Laryssa twenty tasks, she’ll do twenty-one, and she’ll do it with a smile and a pep in her step. “Bring it on; I can’t wait to start my next shift!”

Gary Johnson
Facilities & Maintenance | Safety Director | Coach | Bungee Bouncer
With Gyminny Kids since 1993

Gary is a twenty-seven-year coach of North County Gymnastics and the Gyminny Kids. Gary has a background in Engineering and was a previous Machinist. During that time, Gary perfected the bungee bouncer system that has brought joy to thousands of children. Gary is a member of the illustrious Seven Oaks community located in Rancho Bernardo. During his free time, he eats pizza, participates in water aerobics, works on home improvements and watches comedies. “Even though I have been coaching over thirty years, every day working with kids feels like my first day on the job. I just love this sport and all it has to offer.”


Erin Krakowiak
Coach
With Gyminny Kids since 2026

Erin is a full-fledged dancer, with 18 years of experience, and over three years of experience as a gymnast. She has a natural gift of working with children, making connections with them, and guiding them gently in the right direction. Her favorite food is the momo dumpling, loves the color purple, and is a Grey’s Anatomy buff. Hailing from Santa Cruz, Erin is a bookworm and can normally be found reading on the beach. She enjoys seeing her students grow, learn new skills, and develop confidence. We are thrilled to have her on the team and know you will be too!


Lauren Trieu

Meet Lauren! She’s a bright ray of sunshine with over six years of experience as a gymnast. Additionally, she has over seven years of experience coaching gymnastics. While coaching, Lauren obtained her bachelor’s in human biology with a minor in business from UCSD. She loves working with kids and is naturally talented at making them feel comfortable while gently guiding them in the right direction. When Lauren’s not coaching, she loves to stay active with pilates, hiking, and going to the beach. We warmly welcome Lauren to the team and know you will too!


Lluna Serrats

With over ten years of gymnastics experience, Lluna brings a wealth of knowledge onto the mat. She also has years of coaching experience which have helped her become the patient kind coach she is today. Believe it or not, Lluna can speak Spanish and is a quarter Japanese! She enjoys being a role model for her students and loves seeing them learn and grow. When she’s not in the gym, she frequents the beach, other countries, and loves spending tiem with friends.

Macy Augustus

Meet Coach Macy! She is an energetic and outdoorsy individual with a very contagious smile. As an office administrator and gymnastics coach, Macy brings a positive and lasting impression to children's lives. Her love for teaching and nurturing younger generations creates a purposeful and impactful environment here at Gyminny Kids. With a passion for swimming, hiking, and roller skating, Macy's vibrant personality adds energy and enthusiasm to any setting. She is dedicated to creating a positive experience for children and leaving a lasting, positive impact on their lives. We are grateful to have Coach Macy apart of the Gyminny Kids family!


Makenna Bailey
Coach
With Gyminny Kids since 2026

Makenna Bailey has been involved in gymnastics since the age of three and grew up competing through Level 8 as a student of Daniel Gundert at North County Gymnastics 4S Ranch. She has been a part of the North County Gymnastics family and has experience coaching preschool, recreational, and competitive gymnastics athletes of all ages and skill levels. Makenna is passionate about helping young athletes build confidence, strengthen fundamentals, and cultivate a lifelong love for the sport. She recently graduated from Lindenwood University with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology. In addition to her gymnastics background, Makenna competed in pole vault during high school and played Division I rugby throughout college. Outside the gym, she enjoys spending time at the beach, exploring new coffee shops, staying active, and recently took up kickboxing. Makenna is excited to help launch and lead the Xcel program at our La Jolla UTC location and looks forward to helping athletes reach their goals while having fun along the way.

Quin Shannon
Head Trainer
With Gyminny Kids since 2023

Quin Shannon has been coaching gymnastics full-time since 1984. He has owned and operated a preschool and PE gymnastics program, directed large recreational programs, coached Xcel, Junior Olympic, and Elite gymnastics, and was an NCAA Division 1 coach. He is a national instructor for USA Gymnastics and the National Gymnastics Association. He currently spends his time coaching the coaches, showing them how to teach great gymnastics in a fun way. Quin is a master gymnastics clinician and is world-renowned for his effective training methods. In addition to traveling the world holding clinics, he is the Head Trainer at North County Gymnastics & the Gyminny Kids. His hobbies include trying to surf, trying to play guitar, and trying to be a better person.

Riley Cornwell

Riley loves anything to do with fashion, art, and of course, sports! “I love gymnastics and working with children, so I get to combine two of my favorite things.” Riley believes that gymnastics makes you strong physically and mentally and wants to pass that along to her students. She holds herself to a high standard both in and out of the gym and hopes her students follow her path toward excellence.


Shayla Parenti

Meet Shayla Parenti, a former Gyminny Kid and North County Gymnastics competitive team athlete turned staff member, bringing her love for gymnastics and working with kids to her role. Beyond the gym, she's an adventurous spirit, tearing up trails on her dirt bike on weekends. Shayla's athleticism shines through in her cheerleading for Poway High School, where her dedication and energy are unmatched. With her warm and friendly personality, she brings joy wherever she goes. Whether enjoying spaghetti and meatballs or soaking up the sun at the beach, Shayla's love for life is infectious, making her the perfect mentor for young athletes. We’re excited to have her here at Gyminny Kids. Make sure you say hi when you see her!
