If you are considering enrolling your child in a gymnastics day camp, you are already making a great decision.

Gymnastics camps give children a chance to stay active, build confidence, learn new skills, and most importantly, have a lot of fun in a structured, safe environment.

One of the most common questions parents ask is:

"What should I pack for my child's gymnastics day camp?"

The good news is, it is simple.

At North County Gymnastics & The Gyminny Kids, we have designed our kids' gymnastics camp experience to be easy for parents and exciting for kids.

Why Gymnastics Day Camp Is Different

Not all camps are created equal.

A gymnastics camp for kids offers a unique combination of:

  • Structured instruction

  • Skill development

  • Games and themed activities

  • Social interaction

  • Confidence building

Unlike many traditional camps, gymnastics camps keep children engaged the entire time.

Less downtime. More activity. More smiles.

As we always say:

"Start with gymnastics, go anywhere."

Gymnastics builds the foundation for all sports, while also teaching discipline, body awareness, listening skills, and how to fall and recover safely.

What to Pack for Gymnastics Day Camp

Here is exactly what your child needs to have a successful experience at a gymnastics day camp:

1. Water Bottle (Required)

Hydration is a big priority.

Your child should bring a labeled water bottle every day.

We have water bottle refill stations throughout our gyms to help kids stay hydrated during camp.

2. Athletic Clothing (Very Important for Safety)

Children should wear:

  • Athletic shorts or leggings

  • T-shirt, tank top, or leotard

  • Comfortable, breathable fabrics

Please avoid:

  • Buttons

  • Zippers

  • Belts

  • Clothing with loops

  • Any metal items

These can:

  • Get caught on the equipment

  • Scratch the child or others

  • Interfere with safe movement

We prioritize safety in every aspect of our program, including what kids wear.

3. Hair Tied Back (If Shoulder Length or Longer)

If your child's hair touches their shoulders, it must be tied back.

This helps:

  • Keep hair out of their eyes

  • Prevent distractions during skill work

  • Avoid getting caught during basic tumbling or rotations

It is a small detail that makes a big difference in safety and focus.

4. Lunch (Full-Day Camp Only)

If your child is staying for a full day of summer camp gymnastics, please pack a lunch.

We recommend:

  • Easy-to-eat foods

  • Nutritious options

  • Clearly labeled containers

  • No nuts

5. Snacks (Optional)

Here is something parents love:

You do NOT need to pack a snack.

We offer several healthy snack options for campers throughout the day.

However, if your child prefers a specific snack, they are always welcome to bring their own.

6. A Positive Attitude

This one matters more than anything else.

We encourage every child to come in with:

  • A smile

  • A willingness to try new things

  • A readiness to have fun

Confidence grows when kids step just slightly outside their comfort zone.

7. Any medical supplies specific to your child

Such as an EpiPen

We are a nut-free facility, and all of our instructors are certified in First Aid, CPR, and concussion awareness. Your kiddos are in capable hands.

In addition, we have a section in our class management software where we place important notes about each child, and we have your number on file in case we need to reach you. If you have anything we should know about your child, please inform us, and we will make detailed notes in your file.

How to Prepare Your Child for Camp

Preparation goes beyond what is in the bag.

Here are a few simple ways to set your child up for success:

Talk About What to Expect

Explain that they will:

  • Try new skills

  • Meet new friends

  • Play games

  • Work with coaches

The more familiar it feels, the more confident they will be walking in.

Keep the Routine Simple

Make sure they:

  • Get a good night's sleep

  • Eat a healthy meal before camp

  • Arrive on time or a few minutes early

Consistency helps children feel secure.

Encourage Effort, Not Perfection

At Gyminny Kids, we focus on effort and attitude.

As we tell our athletes:

"Ignore the scoreboard. Do your job at the highest level, and the wins will follow."

What a Typical Day at Gymnastics Camp Looks Like

While every day includes variety and themed activities, most gymnastics camps include:

  • Warm-up and stretching

  • Skill stations (bars, beam, floor, vault basics)

  • Games and obstacle courses

  • Group activities and challenges

  • Snack, craft breaks, and rest periods

Our camps are structured, but they feel like play.

That balance is what keeps kids coming back.
