From 100 Families to 100,000: How Gyminny Kids Built One of the Largest Gymnastics Communities

When Gyminny Kids first opened its doors in 1987, success wasn't measured by followers, subscribers, likes, or views.

It was measured by something simpler.

One child learning a cartwheel.

One family discovered a place where their child felt confident.

One coach making a positive impact.

One class at a time through fun and fitness while building character through sport.

Nearly four decades later, those same principles continue to guide everything we do.

Today, North County Gymnastics & The Gyminny Kids (NCG is the competition team name, and Gyminny Kids is the recreational name) serves families across six San Diego locations, has welcomed more than 100,000 families through its doors, reaches millions of people annually through digital content, and has grown into one of the most recognizable gymnastics brands in Southern California.

Recently, we celebrated several exciting milestones:

While those numbers are exciting, they are not the story.

The real story is the community behind them.

Every view represents a family.

Every comment represents a conversation.

Every share represents someone who believes that gymnastics can help children become stronger, more confident, and better prepared for life.

And that has always been what Gyminny Kids is really about.

From a Single Gym to Six Locations & still growing

In 1987, Gyminny Kids began with one mission:

Fun & fitness while building character through sport.

Over the years, that mission resonated with families throughout San Diego County.

Today, Gyminny Kids proudly serves families through six locations:

  • 4S Ranch

  • Poway

  • Carlsbad

  • La Costa

  • La Jolla UTC

  • Solana Beach TRC

With more to come!

Together, these facilities provide gymnastics classes, ninja programs, camps, open gyms, birthday parties, after-school programs, adaptive gymnastics opportunities, and competitive team training for thousands of students every week.

What started as a local gymnastics and ninja school has evolved into a community institution that impacts children and families throughout Southern California.

More Than 100,000 Families Served

One of the numbers we are most proud of isn't found on social media.

It's the number of families who have trusted Gyminny Kids with their children over the years.

More than 100,000 families have walked through our doors since 1987.

Some stayed for a season.

Others stayed for a decade. Some even more!

Many children who once attended classes have now become parents and even grandparents themselves.

Some former students have become coaches.

Others have gone on to become teachers, doctors, entrepreneurs, military leaders, engineers, and community leaders.

While gymnastics may have been the starting point, the lessons learned inside the gym often extend far beyond sports.

Why Gymnastics Matters

Parents often ask what makes gymnastics different from other youth activities.

Gymnastics teaches children how to:

  • Work hard when progress feels slow

  • Overcome fear

  • Accept feedback

  • Build discipline

  • Set goals

  • Respect others

  • Persevere through challenges

  • Develop confidence through effort

Those lessons remain valuable long after the final medal is awarded.

As a father of five competitive gymnasts, I've watched these lessons shape my own children in ways that extend far beyond athletics.

As a coach and gym owner, I've witnessed the same transformation in thousands of children over the years.

That is why we believe gymnastics is one of the most powerful youth development activities available and is the foundation for all other sports.

Becoming a Trusted Resource for Families

As Gyminny Kids grew, we recognized an opportunity to serve families beyond the walls of our gyms.

Parents were searching for answers.

They wanted guidance on child development, sports participation, confidence-building, safety, and gymnastics training.

So we began creating content.

Today, Gyminny Kids publishes:

In many ways, Gyminny Kids has become much more than a gymnastics and ninja school.

We have become a source of information, inspiration, and connection for families throughout the gymnastics community, and others have even joked that we produce so much content that we are also a robust media company.

125 Million Views Later, The Mission Hasn't Changed

It would be easy to focus on the numbers.

The followers.

The subscribers.

The views.

The viral videos.

But those metrics are only evidence that the message is resonating.

The mission remains exactly what it was in 1987.

Provide fun and fitness while building character through sport.

Everything else is secondary.

Whether a family attends classes at one of our six locations or discovers one of our videos online, we hope that they leave feeling informed, encouraged, and inspired.
