Supporting Our Gyminny Kids Associates Beyond the Gym: Aide Rocha's First Home

By Daniel Gundert, Gyminny Kids Owner and CEO

Since joining Gyminny Kids in 2022, Aide Rocha has grown from office administrator and coach to office lead, location manager, and senior location manager. Along the way, she also worked toward a personal milestone: buying her first home. Gyminny Kids connected her with first-time homebuyer resources, and I contributed my real estate commission toward her closing costs.

At North County Gymnastics & the Gyminny Kids, supporting our associates means caring about the goals they're working toward outside the gym, too. Home-buying support is one way we help Gyminny Kids Associates work toward important milestones.

Aide has been with Gyminny Kids since 2022. She started as a front desk office administrator while also coaching some classes. She moved into an office lead role, then became a location manager, and now serves as our senior location manager. Her progression through the company happened relatively quickly, reflecting the responsibility and leadership she has taken on along the way.

As Aide continued to grow in her career, she was also working toward a major personal goal: owning a home. Aide is the latest member of our team to buy her first home with support along the way. Before Aide, I helped Coach Earl through his home-buying process, and before Earl, Coach Gary (who has been with GK since 1993). Each journey is personal, and Aide's story shows how encouragement and guidance can help someone keep moving through an unfamiliar process.

A goal that once felt out of reach

Aide never expected to own a home so soon. Her family had rented since moving to the United States in 2005, and she assumed she would rent an apartment, too.

After returning from North Carolina, Aide began thinking seriously about having her own place. Conversations at work got her thinking about homeownership, and she put buying a home on her vision board. She had started reaching out for help the year before, but hadn't followed through. This time, she was ready to keep going.

Finding the right home

Aide originally pictured a standalone house, even if it meant buying a small fixer-upper. As she learned more about her options, she realized a condo could offer more of what mattered to her.

She found a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo with a two-car garage in a gated community. Safety was one of her biggest priorities. The home also gave her the extra space and privacy she wanted, without the major repairs she expected a starter house might require.

Finding help with the process

The financial side was Aide's biggest concern. She worried about the down payment and whether she could manage all the costs of buying a home on her own.

With Nicole and my guidance, Aide learned about first-time homebuyer resources, including the Dream For All voucher. The application deadline was approaching, and Aide wasn't sure she would be selected, but she decided to apply. She recalls that the application took less than ten minutes. A month or two later, she learned she had been selected.

That was only the beginning. Aide still had courses, an interview, and a budget worksheet to complete. I helped her connect with the people and resources she needed, and contributed my real estate commission toward her closing costs. Aide said that support helped make the purchase possible.

The process had its stressful moments. Aide and Daniel's real estate partner, Allie, began looking in May, and Aide didn't find her home until September. When she became discouraged and pulled back from the search, Allie remembered Aide had asked her to help keep her on track. Allie called, arranged another day of home tours, and encouraged Aide to keep looking.

A milestone shared with family

One of Aide's most memorable moments was telling her parents. They had rented for years, so seeing their daughter buy a home of her own was a proud moment for the whole family.

Now, Aide has a place where she can enjoy privacy and the satisfaction of having something of her own. "It's so nice coming home and just having something that's yours," she said.

At 26, Aide knows buying a home can feel impossible, especially when you don't know where to begin. Her advice to others is to keep going, even when the process gets difficult.

"Follow through, even through the tough ones," she said. "There's always help out there. Keep going, see the bigger picture, see the finish line."

Aide's story is part of a growing tradition at Gyminny Kids. We're proud to have supported Coach Gary, Coach Earl, and now Aide as they reached the milestone of buying a first home. Their experiences remind us that supporting our staff can mean helping them pursue their goals in and out of the gym.

We're proud of Aide, her growth with Gyminny Kids, and this important milestone. I hope others in the organization can follow in Aide's footsteps and begin their homeownership journey. Nothing makes me happier as an employer than seeing my staff realize their dreams, invest in their future, and become homeowners. Part of the reason I earned my real estate license was to help my staff own real estate and build generational wealth through it.
