Two Legacies, One Exciting Future: Celebrating the Gyminny Kids TRC Solana Beach Grand Opening
On Sunday, October 4, 2026, hundreds of families joined us to celebrate the grand opening of Gyminny Kids TRC Solana Beach. It became one of the most successful and memorable grand opening celebrations we have ever hosted.
This event meant more than opening another Gyminny Kids location. It celebrated the union of two organizations, each with nearly four decades of history: TRC and North County Gymnastics & The Gyminny Kids.
Coach Darryl Davis founded TRC in 1983, starting as a mobile gymnastics program before establishing its home in Solana Beach. Gyminny Kids was founded in 1987 and has spent nearly four decades serving children and families throughout San Diego County.
Bringing these two legacy organizations together allows us to preserve the history and heart of TRC while creating expanded opportunities for its athletes, coaches, and families.
Families can learn more about the history behind the transition in our announcement about Gyminny Kids acquiring TRC Gymnastics in Solana Beach.
Honoring Coach Darryl Davis and the TRC Legacy
Coach Darryl was present throughout the grand opening, greeting families, shaking hands, reconnecting with longtime clients, and stepping onto the floor to spot athletes.
His presence was a meaningful reminder of the thousands of children and families he has influenced during more than 40 years of serving the gymnastics community.
Our responsibility is to honor what Darryl built while continuing to strengthen the program for future generations. Keeping TRC in the location's name is one way we are preserving that history as we begin this next chapter together.
Darryl built something special in Solana Beach. We are grateful that he trusted our family and organization to continue what he started.
Three Hours of Nonstop Family Fun
The gym was packed with activities and smiling families throughout the three-hour celebration.
Children explored the gymnastics equipment, raced through ninja challenges, bounced on the bungee systems, tumbled, enjoyed face painting, danced to music from our DJ, Justin, and participated in raffles and giveaways. Families also enjoyed free popcorn and Otter Pops and learned more about the programs available at the Solana Beach facility.
One of the biggest moments of the celebration was our $1,000 hang challenge. Level 8 Kendal from North County Gymnastics Carlsbad outlasted the competition and took home the grand prize while hanging for nearly 17 minutes!
Watching children and parents smile from ear to ear as they experienced the gym was exactly what we hoped this celebration would be.
Turning a Challenge Into a Success
The weather was warmer than expected that weekend, which created another challenge for our team to solve. Our staff stayed positive, worked together, and found additional cooling solutions to help keep the gym comfortable for our guests.
That effort represented something I value deeply about our team. When challenges arise, they look for solutions. They support one another, remain positive, and continue focusing on the experience we are creating for our families.
Because of that attitude, we turned a potentially difficult situation into one of the best grand opening parties we have ever hosted. The tremendous turnout, nonstop activity, and positive energy throughout the facility made the entire effort worthwhile.
Pressure can create challenges, but it can also inspire creativity. Our staff's ability to problem-solve and remain positive played an important role in making this event such a success.
Thank You to Our Community
An event of this size does not happen without many people working together.
Thank you to our staff members who planned, prepared, set up, coached, supervised activities, welcomed families, solved problems, and stayed afterward to reset the facility.
Thank you to our vendors, DJ Justin, and the community partners who helped make the celebration special.
Most importantly, thank you to the hundreds of families who attended and supported our small, family-owned business. Your enthusiasm showed us how much this program means to the Solana Beach community.
The Next Chapter Starts Here
Gyminny Kids TRC Solana Beach will continue offering preschool and recreational gymnastics, competitive team programs, tumbling, ninja, adaptive gymnastics, camps, Open Gym, Kids Night Out, Kids Day Out, private lessons, birthday parties, after-school club, and special events.

Our goal is to build upon everything that made TRC special while providing additional resources, programs, equipment, coaching opportunities, and long-term stability.
Honoring Darryl's 40-year legacy while combining it with our own history is incredibly meaningful to me. This grand opening lets us celebrate the past, enjoy the present, and look ahead to what we can build together.
The next chapter has officially begun, and we are grateful to have the Solana Beach community beside us.
